The Contract with “We The People”

I challenge all other Candidates nationwide to follow my lead and hold themselves accountable to a higher standard.  I challenge them to truly embrace real transparency by publicly displaying a signed document stating in clear, direct and concise language what they are prepared to do in Congress by their declaration of principles.  Candidates who possess the integrity and courage to accept this challenge will have no difficulty in demonstrating to the voting public that they are running for the right reasons.  A Candidate unwilling or unable to make a direct declaration has no business asking for your trust or your vote.  The days of blindly trusting a candidate are past “We the People” of America can no longer afford to accept the risk of candidates subject to weakness, lies and corruption.

I Jerry Odom declare I will hold myself accountable to the following principles:

1. I vow to stand strong on principles speaking the truth based on facts without fear or reservation.  My first priority is to honor the oath of my office and the people who elected me.
2. I oppose the Obama Healthcare plan IT IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL!  I pledge to commit myself to its repeal and to oppose any legislation that increases government power or control over the private sector and/or our personal lives. 
3. I will work for the abolishment of the IRS and the illegal system of direct taxation of American citizens.  I will work to establish a fair tax or flat tax thereby providing for a more equitable system.  My premise is simple, fewer taxes, less government equals increased freedom, stimulating more innovation and increased prosperity. 
4. I firmly believe in the United States Constitution, I believe in our founding Fathers, their vision and intentions therefore I will never support any bill or legislation not in harmony with constitutional principles.  Furthermore, all bills must be written in clear understandable language, containing no hidden provisions I will not vote for any bill not 100% sound anything less is simply not acceptable.  The adage “a bad bill is better than no bill” is just pure nonsense, we can always do better.  
5. I believe in a two term limit, this provides for new ideas, fresh perspectives, and will also provide new guards for our future security. 
6. I will support and work for auditing of the Federal Reserve System and its ultimate elimination 
7. I believe education of American citizens to be of vital importance to the United States and the key to a successful secure future.  The founding Father’s held this view with good reason therefore it must continue to be a guiding principle for all who serve.  I will move to abolish the Department of Education returning control to the state and local levels where it may be administered consistent with free market principles. 
8. Abortion.  I stand solidly on the side of life, period!  Having lost a child of our own my wife and I fully understand and appreciate the priceless sanctity of life.  It is the duty of government to protect life not allow its destruction; I am absolutely certain the founding Father’s would have been aghast at the very idea of abortion. 
9. I believe corruption must be dealt with swiftly and decisively. I will not hesitate to open investigations whenever necessary or press articles of impeachment regardless of consequences.  I personally take my oath of office as a sacred, solemn obligation and I expect others to do the same.  Those who have betrayed the constitution and broken the law must be held accountable for their actions and suffer the full measure of the prescribed penalty.  Illegal acts, or questionable actions designed to circumvent the law must be punished without exception, corruption and incompetence must be rooted out at all costs. 
10. I consider it an honor and privilege to serve in the Congress and as such I will voluntarily donate 30-35% of my Congressional salary back to the people via a qualified charity of my choosing.
11. I refuse to accept money from Political Action Committees, Corporations, or Lobbyist.  I will gratefully accept contributions of private individual American citizens.
12. I believe in a balanced budget.  I will work to freeze all non-essential spending until it can be determined whether it is justifiable or frivolous. I will work to bring entitlements and all other spending into line with constitutional principles.
13. I believe the government has a solemn responsibility to limit the amount of financial burden placed on its citizens.  I will therefore oppose all tax increases and will instead push for tax cuts on individuals, families and businesses.  I believe freeing the citizenry of onerous taxes, excessive regulation and overall governmental intrusion is the most expedient way to stimulate innovation, productivity and prosperity.
14. The continued U.S. dependency on foreign oil and energy sources is a travesty.  For more than four decades our representatives in the federal government has allowed foreign interests to dominate our energy needs and thus our foreign policy.  I believe it is of vital importance to our security, our sovereignty and our very survival as a nation to develop our domestic oil reserves, while simultaneously pursuing every option available to us including, solar, wind, geothermal, nuclear, etc.
15. I firmly believe maintaining the sovereignty and security of the United States is absolutely crucial.  It is for these reasons that I will fight any measure allowing any foreign country, military, judicial, commercial or United Nations entity any measure of power whatsoever over U.S. citizens.  I will immediately put forth measures to close the holes and shore up the weaknesses of our borders.  I will relentlessly pursue the vigorous enforcement of immigration and naturalization laws without apology, excuse or exception. The rights and protection of lawful American citizens and legal immigrants must always come first.
16. I believe protecting American jobs is critical.  Given half a chance the American worker is the most motivated, innovative, and productive worker in the world.  I will work tirelessly to stem the flow of American jobs to overseas manufacturing and staunch the bleeding practice of outsourcing jobs by getting government out of the way of progress.  I believe government intrusion, over-regulation, and excessive interference are the primary causes of our current sad state of domestic affairs.  Markets are not the problem; people are not the problem, an ever growing overreaching GOVERNMENT is the problem.
17. I will make no apology for the United States of America!  The United States is the greatest country on the face of the earth; it is the greatest country ever to exist in the lengthy history of the world.  Judeo/Christian principles and the generosity of the American people are responsible for the rescue, feeding, clothing, and rebuilding of more nations than I can count.  American blood has time and again been selflessly shed to protect the poor and defenseless.  America need not ever apologize.  I support a common sense foreign policy to save American lives.  I believe it is well past time for us to call our vast resources and people home it is time to think of Americans first. I believe all who have been captured as enemy combatants must be tried in military tribunals as soon as possible, the adjudication of these enemies must be resolved now.
18. If I should I violate the commitments outlined above to you the American people, I will no longer be fit to serve in the position to which you have elected me.  I submit I will voluntarily resign or relinquish my position to whomsoever you decide is worthy and I will do so immediately, I will not dishonor you by remaining to the end of my elected term.
